Here are some fun facts about the TFL:
Original League Name
The TFL was originally called the XFL. It was dubbed this name because the files would be easier to find if they all started with an "X". The TFL name was created when this website was made because I couldn't label it "Teddy's Seasons Website."
36 Teams in Season 1?
In the early stages of the TFL, I originally had 36 teams instead of 32. The logos for all these teams were created about a month before I began the Season 1 Inaugural Draft. To make using NFL schedules easier and keep the number of teams in divisions consistent, I removed four teams. Those teams were the Michigan Wolverines, Oregon Beavers, Phoenix Pythons, and San Diego Archers. Their original logos are shown here.
What Happened to Each Franchise?
Phoenix Pythons - Added in Season 10
San Diego Archers - Added in Season 10
Oregon Beavers - Added in Season 14
Michigan Wolverines - (Wasn't Aware This Was The College)
Early Rebrand
Before Season 10, I was so close to renaming and relocating the Alabama Razorbacks to Alaska to become the Anchorage Avalanche. I even tested the logo by putting it next to Razorbacks players. However, a few days later, I settled on adding four teams instead of replacing one. Thus, the first expansion happened.
Alabama?
When rebranding the Alabama Razorbacks in Season 21, many different names were considered. Some of those names included: Stallions, Reapers, Forge, Vultures, Snappers, & Alabama Football Club. However, in the end, the team settled for the Crusaders. The Football Club "A" logo looked fitting though, so they used that as their new logo.
Lancers Division Title Drought
There are a few teams who've never won their division, but the Los Angeles Lancers are unique. After Season 20, they have made the playoffs 9 times, all as a Wild Card team. The Lancers have never won the NFC West in 20 seasons, making them the team with the most playoff appearances and zero division titles.
Last Team to Double-Digit Wins
Following Season 20, 39 out of 40 teams have eclipsed 10 wins in a season, except one. The San Antonio Orbit haven't had a season with 10 wins, and when accomplished, they will be the final team to accomplish this feat.
Pre-Season 10 Starting QBs
Through Season 21, only 2 teams still have their quarterback from before Season 10. This is such a rare feat because of how often players move around in the TFL. The quarterbacks are:
-Patrick Mahomes, Utah Craters (Season 1-Present)
-Jordan Love, Carolina Claws (Season 7-Present)
