What's New in Season 8?

Following the return of the TFL Rookie Draft in Season 7, Season 8 focused on refining the league's offseason transaction system. The biggest addition was the introduction of preliminary draft picks, giving franchises greater flexibility when planning for future Rookie Drafts.

Preliminary Draft Picks Introduced

Beginning in Season 8, franchises became eligible to trade preliminary draft picks for the upcoming Season 10 Rookie Draft.

Because the official draft order would not be determined until the conclusion of Season 9, these selections represented each team's future draft pick before its exact position was known. Once the combined regular season records from Seasons 7–9 were finalized, every preliminary selection was assigned its official draft position.

To maintain long-term competitive balance, franchises could only trade selections for the next scheduled Rookie Draft. Draft picks beyond the upcoming draft were not eligible to be traded, a rule that continues to govern the TFL today.

The St. Louis Rebels unveiled a new primary logo, continuing the league's ongoing refinement of franchise branding while preserving each team's established history and identity.
