What's New in Season 5?

Following the introduction of the Rookie Draft in Season 4, Season 5 focused on expanding the league's schedule while continuing to refine its visual identity. The regular season was increased to 17 games, matching the NFL's newly adopted schedule format, while the league's 14-team playoff structure remained unchanged.

17-Game Regular Season

Season 5 marked the first increase in the length of the TFL regular season.

Following the NFL's decision to expand its schedule from 16 to 17 games, the TFL adopted the same format. Each franchise now plays 17 regular season games over an 18-week schedule, with one bye week remaining for every team.

The expanded schedule increased the total number of games from 269 to 285, giving franchises an additional opportunity to compete for playoff positioning and statistical achievements.

Second Offensive Trading Card Set

Season 5 also introduced the second official TFL trading card set.

Like the inaugural release in Season 4, the set featured 288 offensive player cards using the same overall design. While it did not introduce a new card style, it continued building the league's historical archive and documented another season through player cards.

Franchise Identity Updates

The Washington Liberty unveiled a new primary logo, continuing the league's tradition of refining franchise identities while preserving each team's history.
