Following the successful inaugural season, Season 2 focused on refining the league rather than introducing major structural changes. While the 32-team league, 16-game schedule, and 14-team playoff format remained unchanged, the offseason introduced free agency and the league's first franchise logo updates.
For the first time in TFL history, franchises were able to improve their rosters through free agency.
Unlike the inaugural season, when every player remained with the team that drafted or received them, free agents from the previous season became eligible to sign with new franchises during the offseason. Player movement was determined entirely by me, Teddy Coenen, who assigned free agents to teams based on roster needs, team fit, and overall league balance.
Season 2 featured one wave of free agency, marking the beginning of what would become a permanent part of every TFL offseason.
Season 2 also marked the first visual updates in league history. Three franchises introduced new primary logos, becoming the first organizations to update their identities after the league's inaugural season.
The teams receiving new logos were:
Los Angeles Lancers
Los Angeles Stars
New York Flames
These redesigns established the precedent that team branding could evolve while preserving a franchise's history.
