What's New in Season 19?

Largest Rookie Draft in League History

The TFL Rookie Draft returned for the sixth time in league history and became the largest draft to date.

For the first time, the draft expanded to 6 rounds, with 40 selections per round, resulting in 240 total draft picks.

Draft order continued to be determined by each franchise's combined regular season record from the previous three seasons, while players, draft picks, and preliminary draft picks remained eligible to be traded before the draft.

Following the draft, undrafted rookies entered the second wave of free agency, allowing franchises to complete their newly expanded rosters.

The sixth round was introduced to accommodate both the league's larger roster sizes and the growing number of incoming rookies entering the TFL each draft cycle.

Updated Overtime Rules

Season 19 introduced a new regular season overtime format, adopting the NFL's updated overtime rules.

Beginning this season:

• Both teams are guaranteed one offensive possession, even if the team receiving the opening kickoff scores a touchdown.

• If the game remains tied after both teams have possessed the football, sudden death begins, with the next score determining the winner.

• If neither team scores before overtime expires, the game ends in a tie.

The updated format ensured that both teams had an equal opportunity to possess the football while preserving the excitement of sudden-death overtime.

New Trading Card Set

Season 19 introduced another completely redesigned TFL trading card set.

Unlike the jersey-themed collection released in Season 14, the new cards returned to a more traditional trading card style similar to the designs used in Seasons 7 and 10, while featuring an entirely new visual layout.

The collection included 1,644 player cards, recognizing nearly every notable player in the league and becoming one of the most comprehensive card sets ever produced for the TFL.

• St. Louis Rebels
