Season 21 continued the evolution of the Teddy Football League by expanding the league's recognition systems, introducing the League Honors Awards, expanding the Pro Bowl, and completing the league's third franchise rebrand. Alongside these additions, several franchises received updated branding, continuing the league's commitment to refining its visual identity.
For the third time in league history, a franchise officially adopted a new identity.
The Alabama Razorbacks rebranded as the Alabama Crusaders, becoming the third organization to change its name while preserving its complete franchise history.
Unlike the previous two rebrands, the Razorbacks were one of the league's most successful franchises, consistently winning games and competing for division titles. However, the name "Razorbacks" was considered too closely associated with the University of Arkansas Razorbacks. After considering numerous alternatives, the franchise ultimately adopted the Crusaders identity.
As with every TFL rebrand, only the team's name and visual identity changed. All records, championships, playoff appearances, awards, Hall of Famers, and franchise history remained attached to the organization.
Season 21 significantly expanded the league's annual awards by introducing four new honors.
The first addition was Special Teams Player of the Year, recognizing a position group that had previously received little league-wide recognition. The award may be presented to any kicker, punter, long snapper, or return specialist who delivers the most outstanding regular season.
The league also introduced three new League Honors Awards, recognizing achievements beyond traditional positional excellence:
Franchise Player of the Year — Honors the player who best represents their franchise through long-term commitment, leadership, loyalty, perseverance, and sustained excellence.
Breakout Player of the Year — Recognizes the league's most improved non-rookie player who emerged as a major contributor after never previously earning a Pro Bowl or Tiered Award.
Acquisition of the Year — Honors the player who made the greatest impact after joining a new franchise through free agency or a trade during the previous offseason.
Unlike the league's Tier One, Tier Two, and Tier Three awards, these honors may be awarded regardless of whether a player has already received a tiered award during the same season, allowing the league to recognize achievements that extend beyond individual statistical performance.
Season 21 also expanded the Pro Bowl once again.
For the first time, Long Snappers became eligible for Pro Bowl recognition, adding one Long Snapper to each conference's roster.
This increased the total number of Pro Bowl selections from 116 to 118, ensuring that every primary special teams position could now receive league-wide recognition.
Season 21 featured updated primary logos for eight franchises:
