What's New in Season 16?

Season 16 introduced another expansion of TFL rosters while continuing the league's established Rookie Draft cycle. Offensive line depth became a greater emphasis with additional roster spots, allowing franchises to build more complete and realistic teams. The season also featured another Rookie Draft and a new franchise logo.

Expanded Rosters

Season 16 increased roster sizes from 44 players to 49 players.

The additional roster spots were dedicated entirely to the offensive line, allowing every franchise to develop greater depth and better represent complete football rosters.

The expanded roster structure added:

• 1 Center (1 → 2)

• 2 Guards (2 → 4)

• 2 Offensive Tackles (2 → 4)

These additions provided backup offensive linemen at every position, giving teams a more realistic roster construction while creating opportunities for additional players to remain active throughout the league.

Fifth TFL Rookie Draft

The TFL Rookie Draft returned for the fifth time in league history.

Like the previous two drafts, the draft consisted of 5 rounds with 40 selections per round, resulting in 200 total draft picks. Draft order continued to be determined by each franchise's combined regular season record from the previous three seasons, rewarding teams with the lowest combined records with the earliest selections.

Following the draft, undrafted rookies entered the second wave of free agency, allowing franchises to finalize their expanded rosters before the season began.

Franchise Identity Updates

The Los Angeles Lancers unveiled a new primary logo, continuing the league's ongoing effort to refine franchise branding while preserving the organization's established history and identity.
