What's New in Season 1?

Season 1 marks the beginning of the Teddy Football League. After months of planning, logo creation, roster building, and league design, the inaugural season officially introduces the TFL and establishes the foundation for everything that follows.

The league launches with 32 original franchises, divided into the American Football Conference (AFC) and National Football Conference (NFC). Each conference consists of four divisions—East, North, South, and West—with four teams in each division.

Inaugural Rosters

Before the season began, the first-ever TFL Draft was held.

The inaugural draft consisted of 4 rounds and 128 total selections, following a snake draft format. After the draft concluded, every remaining player was placed into a random assignment wheel and distributed one-by-one until all 32 franchises had complete rosters.

Each franchise enters Season 1 with a 31-player roster consisting of:

At this stage in league history, free agency and player trades have not yet been introduced.

Schedule & Gameplay

The inaugural 16-game schedule was created by downloading an official NFL schedule and replacing every NFL franchise with its corresponding TFL team.

The TFL also introduces its original overtime format. If a game is tied at the end of regulation, a touchdown on the opening possession immediately ends the game. If the opening team scores a field goal, the opposing team receives one possession to respond. Once both teams have possessed the football, the game enters sudden death, with the next score determining the winner.

Playoffs

The inaugural postseason features 14 playoff teams, with 7 teams qualifying from each conference.

The No. 1 seed in each conference receives a bye directly to the Divisional Round, while the remaining teams compete during Wild Card Weekend. The postseason concludes with the Conference Championships before the league crowns its first champion in Super Bowl I.
