Signed by the Hawaii Warriors ahead of the inaugural season, he anchored the blind side of the now-legendary 16-0-0 squad in Season 1—a team that fell just short of history in the AFC Championship.

After three years in Hawaii, Whitworth had short but steady stints with the Kansas City Badgers and the Canton All-Stars. It was in Canton that he earned his lone Pro Bowl honor, helping the team reach the NFC title game in his final campaign before retirement.
