Jakeem Grant Sr., a lightning-fast return specialist and versatile wide receiver, carved out a memorable 10-season career in the TFL with stints on seven different teams. Known for his electric playmaking in the return game, Grant was one of the most feared returners of the league’s early years.

He began his career with the Atlanta Pumas, playing from Seasons 1–3, and then made single-season stops with the Miami Sharks (Season 4), Chicago Bolts (Season 5), New York Flames (Season 6), Alabama Razorbacks (Seasons 7–8), Kansas City Badgers (Season 9), and, after five seasons away from the game, returned in Season 14 to suit up for the San Francisco Earthquakes in a final bid to chase another championship.

Across his career, Grant totaled 16 touchdowns: 13 receiving, 2 return, and 1 rushing. While not a high-volume scorer, his explosiveness and versatility kept him a valuable asset across multiple phases of the game. He averaged 1.6 touchdowns per season and brought a spark to every roster he joined.

Grant earned 3 Pro Bowl selections and 3 All-Pro honors—all as a returner—cementing his place as one of the most dynamic special teams weapons in league history. He played on six teams that finished .500 or better, made four playoff appearances, and was a part of the Atlanta Pumas when they won an NFC Championship and Super Bowl in Season 2.

After a strong nine-year run, Grant initially stepped away from the game following Season 9, but made a surprise return in Season 14 with the Earthquakes. Though the comeback didn’t result in a second ring, it was a fitting final chapter for a player who always brought energy, speed, and excitement every time he touched the ball.
