Class of Season 20
Linebacker
Season 1 - Season 17
Shaquille Leonard was one of the league’s most versatile and impactful linebackers across 17 seasons, known for his instincts, range, and ability to make game-changing plays. Drafted in the 2nd round of the inaugural Season 1 Draft by the St. Louis Rebels, Leonard quickly became the centerpiece of their defense, earning three Pro Bowl selections during his time there before moving on to an even bigger stage.
In Season 4, Leonard signed with the Tampa Bay Waves, where he cemented himself as one of the top linebackers of his era. With the Waves, he added four more Pro Bowls, four All-Pro honors, and became a key leader in one of the league’s most successful stretches of dominance. His efforts helped guide Tampa Bay to three straight AFC Championships (Seasons 12–14) and back-to-back Super Bowl titles in Seasons 13 and 14, forever linking his name to the Waves’ dynasty.
Leonard’s career closed with the Pittsburgh Ironmen in Season 17, where his veteran presence continued to elevate those around him. Across his 17 seasons, he compiled an impressive résumé that included seven Pro Bowls, two Super Bowl victories, five division titles, and a rare defensive scoring impact with a fumble return touchdown and a safety. His legacy as a proven winner and tone-setting linebacker makes him one of the defining defensive players of his generation.
